In this lecture, we give a definition of planets and exoplanets, we describe methods of their detection – transits, radial velocity, direct imaging, microlensing, transit time variations, we discuss formations of planets and protostellar disks, the creation of giant planets and their dynamics in systems. We also give basic information about the known exoplanets.

Principles of geometrical optics, optical errors and their corrections, types of telescopes and their construction, radio-telescopes, satellite UV and X-ray telescopes, detectors of the light: CCD, CMOS, principles of photometry, spectroscopy, and polarimetry.

This lecture is an introductory course of astronomy and astrophysics for all students of the faculty. Basic mathematics and pieces of knowledge about physical laws are expected.
