The suspicion of being a symbiotic star for this object was raised by Rodríguez et al. (2001) due to the presence of an aged, extended nebula with a dense nebular core. Subsequently, in 2015, the discovery of a double degenerate core with a combined mass exceeding the Chandrasekhar limit was reported (Santander-García et al., 2015).
