Raman-scattered O VI lines were identified in SMP LMC 88, indicating that the system is a symbiotic star. The cool component is a K-type giant, classifying the system as a yellow D’-type symbiotic. Interestingly, the nebula around a yellow D’-type symbiotic, unlike those around D-type symbiotics, is an actual planetary nebula (i.e., a fossil AGB remnant). This categorizes the central binary of SMP LMC 88 as the central binary of a PN (Iłkiewicz et al., 2018). In addition, Akras et al. (2019) classified the system as S+IR type.
