What's new?

February 3, 2024
New objects were added to the Database, including a new symbiotic star in M31 (X004414.71+414033.3) and candidates found using machine learning by Jia et al. (2023).

January 12, 2024
Information on flickering of symbiotic stars from the paper of Merc et al. (2023) was included.

January 10, 2024
Data on several symbiotic stars, including notes, were updated based on the published literature.

January 22, 2023
Two new confirmed symbiotic stars (SS 305, THA 23-30) and 28 symbiotic candidates from the paper by Akras (2023) were added to the Database. These candidates were selected using GALEX UV photometry, 2MASS, WISE IR photometry, and ASAS-SN variables catalog.

January 17, 2023
New symbiotic candidates from the Gaia DR3 (335 objects located in Milky Way and 2 in LMC) were included in the Database (into the 'Suspected' category). These objects were classified as symbiotic stars by Rimoldini et al. (2022) based on the machine-learning technique applied to Gaia DR3 data (astrometric, photometric, and photometric time series).

January 16, 2023
Links to the ARAS Database of amateur spectra are included to the object pages of the symbiotic stars contained there.

January 15, 2023
A table that allows searching for objects in the Database using their names, identifiers, names used in previous symbiotic catalogs, and coordinates is available.

January 15, 2023
Special lists and tables with statistics were added to the Database:

January 4, 2023
The new version has been fully released. The list of major changes includes but is not limited to the following:

  • subcategories for symbiotic candidates were introduced (likely, possible, suspected; read more in the User Guide)
  • 374 new galactic and 23 new extragalactic objects were included (to all categories)
  • galactic part of the Database is fully released
  • object pages for galactic objects were prepared
  • year and reference to the paper that first suspected/confirmed the symbiotic nature of particular object or re-classified it is now available in the Database
  • information if the symbiotic star is shell-burning or accreting-only is newly included
  • information on the detection of jets, resolved nebula, [O III], He II, and [Fe VII] lines is newly included
  • cross-identification with 8 older symbiotic catalogs is available (previously only 4 catalogs were included)
  • list of all papers referenced in the Database is available
  • Database is updated with the data presented in the Gaia DR3
  • Database is now available from two mirrors (Mirror Slovakia, Mirror Czech Republic)
